Strength in Unity: Group Therapy in the Dallas, TX Area

Let’s Grow Toward Healing Together

In life’s darkest and most challenging moments, the worst thing we can be is alone. Whether you have well-meaning people in your life who simply don’t know how to help, or you feel like no one understands what you’re going through, group therapy can help you find the support and empathy you need to move forward. In group therapy, you’ll connect with people who are facing similar challenges and work together with a licensed counselor to build resilience and rise above the things that are holding you back.

Our Approach to Group Therapy

At Zoetry Counseling, we work with small groups of about 6 to 8 who are going through similar challenges in their lives. Whether it’s an adolescent girls group that helps young women grow self-confidence together or a grief group for adults over 25, our goal is to facilitate meaningful connections that offer you support as part of a community. Ultimately, groups are a way for you to understand that you are not alone, and share experiences with other people in your shoes.

Groups meet weekly for 75 to 90 minutes, working with a trained group counselor who has experience working with their area of concern. At points throughout the year, groups may meet for a set number of weeks or continue on an ongoing basis. We encourage you to reach out to learn more about our currently active groups, as they may change frequently.

Your Group Therapy Questions Answered

What is Group Therapy?

Group therapy is a type of psychotherapy that involves a small group of people meeting regularly with a therapist to discuss their shared experiences and support each other. Groups are developed based on age and/or concern, ensuring that the people you meet with will have similar goals as you.

Each session will be led by a therapist, whose role is to create a safe and supportive environment where group members can share their experiences, learn from each other, and develop new coping skills.

During a group therapy session, members may be asked to share their thoughts and feelings about a variety of topics, such as their current life challenges, their past experiences, or their goals for the future. The therapist may also lead the group in activities or exercises designed to help members develop new skills or insights.

Why is Group Therapy Beneficial?

Group therapy can be beneficial for a number of reasons. First, it provides support and encouragement as each member of the group works together through their challenges. This can be especially helpful for people who feel isolated or alone.

It also offers a safe and supportive place to share thoughts and feelings, even if they’re difficult or painful. Because your group members are going through similar challenges, you won’t have to fear being judged for your emotions.

When group members learn from each other's experiences and insights, it can help them develop new coping skills and perspectives. Plus, group members can hold each other accountable for their goals and progress, motivating them to stay on track.

Can Group Therapy Be Done Via Telehealth?

At this time, we do not offer group therapy via telehealth. If you are interested in online therapy, we do offer many other forms of counseling via telehealth, including individual adult counseling, individual teen counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling, among others.
