Jeremy Jones, M.S., LPC Associate, NCC

Howdy! You made it, you’ve just taken a huge first step in this season of life for yourself, or for your child and family. Therapy can be intimidating, and an excoriating process to find someone who fits your needs, and is safe. My name is Jeremy, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I want to help clients grow in whatever season of life they find themselves in, and I want to help clients communicate their needs and discover their authentic selves. My desire is to champion you and help provide a space where you can be yourself without judgment.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Dallas Baptist University, majoring in Psychology, and minoring in sociology and legal studies. I then continued my education at Southern Methodist University to receive my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration on children and adolescent counseling. During this time, I had my clinical internship at Denton County Friends of the Family, where I worked with children and teens. I even led groups who had experience with domestic violence and or sexual assault. This internship experience helped solidify my experience as a trauma-informed counselor.

While I do work with adults, I have found that adopting a Client-Centered approach with children and teens is more developmentally appropriate as opposed to the lens of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) that I adopt with adults—allowing children to communicate their needs through play, while teens can communicate with the aide of activities or talk therapy depending on their needs and age. As individuals move out of the play and activity therapy model, I value the key components of REBT. Emphasizing the importance of the therapeutic relationship, but also valuing authenticity and accountability tied to behavior and the emotions behind them.
